Entrepreneurship course for young residents

Young Merseyside residents who want to be their own boss are being invited to learn more about an upcoming entrepreneurship course at an open day at the end of the month.

Award-winning Sefton-based business support organisation Regenerus runs the course in partnership with Merseyside Youth Association, as part of the Government’s Talent Match programme.

The open day is being held at the Black-E, Great George Street, Liverpool L1 5EW from 10am to 3pm on Tuesday January 26th.

According to Regenerus Business Manager, Eve Money, the Talent Match course is aimed at people who want to set up their own businesses for a variety of reasons.

While some may have hit upon a great idea to fill a gap in the market, others may have a particular skill or talent they want to sell, or be passionate about providing a specific service.

Whatever the impetus, the aim of the course is to give participants the knowledge, skills and contacts they needs to get their business ideas off the ground.

Key elements of the Talent Match package include a £250 start-up grant, one-to-one business advice and three months’ ongoing mentoring from a successful entrepreneur.

The open day will give participants the chance to learn more about the course, and to try their hand at something new.

The event will feature a range of activities including comic illustration, carnival mask making, percussion, beatbox and verse, comedy improvisation and the new Brazilian martial art/dance fusion craze, capoeira, with free Italian street food also being available.

Eve Money added: “This open day is designed to raise awareness of how our course can help would-be entrepreneurs to turn their business ideas into reality,

“We hope it attracts a lot of interest from the increasing number of young people on Merseyside whose ambition is to be their own boss.”

Talent Match is open to young people aged from 18-24 who live in the Liverpool City Region who are not currently in employment or at college.
