Festive fun at South Park grotto

South Park’s Christmas grotto brought out the best in everyone, with the event run mainly on donations from volunteers, local businesses and goodwill.

Local residents donated time and decorations, Asda provided festive mince pies and the local carpet shop provided a much-needed cosy touch to Santa’s grotto which was topped off with a festive chair loaned to us by Emmaus Merseyside.

Litherland Youth and Community Centre supported us by bringing Santa into the park in style on a musical sleigh. Green Sefton (Sefton Council) were also there on the day assisting families in making wreaths and yule logs, and there was a steady queue for face painting too, the materials for which were donated by the Queensway Allotment Association.

The volunteers worked hard, and all donations were given to the Foodbank.

Getting together to get creative

Volunteers from North Park and St Leonard’s got together at our wreath-making workshop, organised by the Gateway Collective, making enough to be able to also give some away to willing takers.
