March also saw things starting to happen in the Poets Streets with the installation of the prototype green roof bin shelter in Boswell Street which attracted lots of interest from other residents.
Following feedback, we’re exploring a model that includes wood and metal for the planting area, which will soften the look.
At the Shelley Street Community Garden residents joined in the community installation of raised beds on site, installing the layers they had made in their woodcraft workshop. Once they were built, everyone pitched in shovelling five tonnes of peat-free compost to fill them ready for planting up in April.
