More mini meadows in North Park – April 2025

Lots of planning was needed to manage the logistics for a very busy day creating four new wildflower mini meadows and one substrate meadow in North Park.

It was a total team effort. Green Sefton brought along their mid-size tractor fitted with the new stone burier and Dowhigh Ltd donated and delivered the MOT for the rubble meadow.

Joined by Taking Root volunteer growers, Gateway Collective and the Inclusive Hub,everyone got stuck in shovelling the growing medium to mix the MOT, sand, compost and biochar. And to top it off, All Saints Catholic Primary School came along to help us sow the wildflower seeds.

What a beautiful day – so great to be working with all these partner organisations to create much-needed habitat for pollinators and invertebrates! A lady walking through the park with her family stopped to watch, as her children were excited to see the tractor at work. She commented: “The smell of freshly turned soil makes me excited to see what will grow!” North Park is going to be fabulous!
