Looking back at Tatton success

Visit generates exciting ideas for future growing

On 18th July community gardeners from all over South Sefton visited the RHS Tatton Flower Show to see Taking Root’s gold medal-winning entry in the Blooming Borders competition and to get ideas for future growing in Bootle.

People from St Leonards YCC, the May Logan Centre, Netherton Community Garden, the Feelgood Factory, the Gateway Collective, Bootle Library, The Friends of South Park, The Friends of Hatton Hill, Linacre Hub, Emmaus, Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre and the L21 Community Network in Litherland all enjoyed the day out which was organised jointly by Taking Root in Bootle and St Leonards YCC.

Visiting the stalls and exhibitions our community gardeners were inspired to continue working in South Sefton and plans were hatched for future In Bloom entries for 2020 and beyond!

Whilst all the individual organisations represented will benefit as a result of the trip we are already beginning to see how Bootle can be transformed when we all work together collaboratively.  This is the true purpose of the Taking Root in Bootle network and for many people the trip to Tatton is the start of something much bigger.
